Gesture Studies - I tried to learn more about distortion and foreshortening 30 min lay-in - from ref I am starting a new painting, which will be in the style of those royal paintings. I took a painting of Louis XVI as the main inspiration. This time I started by sorting out the main tonal masses before I layed down color. Next will be color temperature changes and then materials. I am kinda hesitant to start, maybe because I don't want to mess it up. Which is stupid of course, since it is digital, but anyways. I sure it will be a blast to paint this. A study for the "Hunger" - painting... ...which I am calling done now! I know there are 2 conflicting focal-points in it, but for now I just leave 'em there. some still lifes A Sam Nielson study (http://artsammich.blogspot.de/) - he is awesome! I am trying to get the feeling of the study above into these characters. They are done for the game I am working on. Still WIP, some are not finally rendered. This is a 2 h sketch that is actually more like 4 studies of 4 different photo-refs mixed into one (weak) design :D was fun though!
