I started working for a new client. I am super happy and will soon be able to publish, who it is.
Until then I can at least show the studies I did for the 3 illustrations I did for them. I wanted to get more efficient this time, so I studied an artist who is famous for being efficient with brush-work and shapes. Anders Zorn. I really love the way he only focused the details in his paintings on the main - focal -areas. So I did studies and sketches, trying to do the same. I also applied the knowledge I gained and the used the brushes I created, on the assignments by my new client. So here are most of the studies and sketches I did for the job. I found out, that there is sort of a quick way to make something look finished. And it is by giving it a clear shape. If a shape is clear and sharp, it looks more fone, than a mushy, vague shape. So comitting to a shape is a great way to safe time in the design process. Anyways, if you have questions, feel free to ask :)

This is my latest illustration
It was done as a christmas-present for my brother. Also I just really dig Warhammer40K. This is a Blood Angel apothecary, which is perfect for my brother, since he is a pharmacist. This time I started using a new technique, namely Channels. You can use the channels for red, green and blue seperately to add strong color notes. I used that especially for the background, but I can't wait to use them for other things too! Have a great new year! Flo |
