Hey guys,
I finished an illustration for my friend Marie Trautner. She is very much into penguins so there you go. I included the studies I did for it and a quick stilllife and worked on some other stuff. I hope I can show it soon. In the meantime I stumbled over a really interesting lecture by Steve Huston: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OWLT0_i5Co He seems to be a really good teacher and the stuff he talks about is really interesting. At one point he stressed the nature of drawing fast and how it is not fast mark-making but choosing to draw the easiest mark to describe the seen information. Another thing that I want to focus on more, is to spend more time working out a certain problem before going to the next. I think he means that if you keep saying: I will come back to that later, you will ultimately end up with a bunch of problems, that you have to solve, instead of one at a time. It is really inspiring to listen to him so I recommend you give it a listen and see for yourself, if you can take something out of it.
