Hey guys, so this develops into a travel-blog now. Today we took the train to Soller, a city north-east of Palma and a really beautiful one. It rained today, so it was a good idea to spend an hour in the train, riding through gorgeous landscape. The train goes through many orange and lemon-gardens and along a huge mountain massive. It is also filled with old German people (and us) haha I managed to do some quick value comps, mixing my brushy pen with my precise ink-pen. On the train back I did 2 quick water-color paintings. The first one is a real mess, maybe because I didn't think at all and just hastily brushed in the colors, hoping for a good outcome. I think it shows haha. The second one was done with more care, trying to do more layering and grouping of shapes. But then I stumble over the shadow-shape. My brushes are filled with water, so every time I lay down a stroke I leave a little puddle of colored water which resolves the already layed down color ending in those ugly, stainy shapes. I will have to do some research how to avoid that. Also today I couldn't color-correct them as successfully as yesterday. So I added a black and white version and a not- really-true-to-life-colored-version. That's it for now, tomorrow we will visit the fort.
Have a great evening. Flo
