Dinosaur in the city + Seven Claws 4 studies of a sulfur - rich environment. I forgot the name :) I tried to improve my brush-work and push the forms and the colors. A Zorn - study to get better with brushwork and suggesting details. 3 value - comps to get better at planning my illustrations. I did a bunch of pencil - sketches before this and picked the 3 best. I started with a light grey background, instead of white and painted on top of it with a dark grey. It instantly gave a more natural result. Once I had the main elements in the comp (the dam and the mountains), I added the waves with white and the foreground (close to black). Thinking in 2 values first makes things easier. But I find that since foreground, midground and background are needed for an illustration, it tends to get easier when introducing 2 more shades of value. Lastly another finished illustration. This is a map, to be used in a DnD-adventure. I did a 3D base, which I then overpainted.
