Protectus
- a game for children
In early 2012, I was introduced to Dr. Wölber of the University Klinik Freiburg. He was a colleague of my father's. He's a dentist with a big interest in serious games (as in games with a serious or persuasive content). The goal was to create a game, that teaches children how to take better care of their teeth.
Since I studied Game-Design and was starting out doing art, we started the project which then was only called "The tooth-game". My job was doing game-design, concept-design, game-art and interface-design.
Together with the team of Tajono, we developed the game. You can play "Protcectus" and "Pollution" over here.
"Pollution" is the blind-game, which has the same mechanic as "Protectus" but different graphics. This is needed to check if "Protectus" actually delivers its message.
"Protectus" was used for a PhD programm and a clinical study with children. The results are currently been examined and documented. (as for 2017)

Protectus - the character-design process
After finding a pleasing and interesting silhouette, I started doing rough color sketches of the character. After being happy with the idea of the character I cleaned it up and did a more stylized version of him.
